The excerpt below was produced in 2013 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates and monitors food, medici

ne, and other products in the United States. Which of the following statements is an objective summary of the excerpt?
Global production of FDA-regulated products has quadrupled over the last decade and continues to grow. Today, FDA-regulated products originate from more than 150 countries, 130,000 importers and 300,000 foreign facilities. Fifty percent of fresh fruits, 20 percent of vegetables, and 80 percent of seafood consumed in America comes from abroad. Similarly, 40 percent of finished drugs come from overseas, and 80 percent of active ingredients manufacturers are located outside the US. Further, half of all medical devices are imported. The growth in imports has been rapid and promises to accelerate.1
A. It is impossible for the FDA to effectively monitor the huge amount of food Americans import each year.
B. A large percentage of the food and medicine Americans consume comes from foreign countries.
C. Many Americans decide to import drugs from overseas because they are cheaper than in the U.S.
D. The FDA is doing an excellent job of regulating America's imported meat, produce, and medicine.

B. A large percentage of the food and medicine Americans consume comes from foreign countries.

The FDA was created to monitor food and drug production in the US. With a changing economic system following WWII, more of the foods the US consumes and product development coming from others countries, the FDA now needs to monitor those imports before allowing them into the consumer market in the US.

Why did the Enclosure Movement work well for crop production?
Darya [45]

Answer:

Farmers no longer had any land to live off of they moved to the cities and worked in factories. This allowed there to be enough workers to power the Industrial Revolution and created a capitalistic society from a once freudian society. It turned land from a resource to survive into a commodity to earn money in the marketplace. It also formed the diggers movement which was an activist act against the private property restrictions

ad-work [718]

Answer:

He is unable to ignore the appeal of freedom.

Explanation:

An "inference" refers to a conclusion based on the evidences gathered or presented.

Frederick Douglas is an American abolitionist and social reformer. He's popular for escaping slavery in Maryland. He had a few escape attempts before successfully gaining his freedom.

The quote above was spoken by Douglas when he carefully thought about his condition as a slave and how it tormented him. As he became more educated and started reading books, he was awakened of the horrors of being a slave. Thus, he realized that he needed to escape and do something about slavery. Upon escaping, he settled with his wife and became an abolitionist and preacher.
