In a cross between two strains that are true breeding for purple and white flowers, the F2 phenotypic ratio would be ¼ purple, ¼

white, and ½ lavender if the flower color phenotype exhibits incomplete dominance. True or False

Answer:

The answer is true.

Explanation:

True breeding for purple and white means that they are homozygous for that phenotype, for example AA is genotype for purple, while aa is genotype for white. Aa is heterozygous and it represents incomplete dominance phenotype. If we cross true breeding for purple and white:

P: AA x aa

F1: Aa Aa Aa Aa (all of them are with incomplete dominance color)

F2 (Aa x Aa): AA Aa Aa aa (1/4 1/2 1/4)

DNA is replicated in the nucleus of eukaryotes, but in the cytoplasm of prokaryotes. Why is this?
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

In prokaryotes (organisms without a nuclear membrane), DNA undergoes replication and transcription and RNA undergoes translation in an undivided compartment. All three processes can occur simultaneously.

In eukaryotes (organisms with a nuclear membrane), DNA undergoes replication and transcription in the nucleus, and proteins are made in the cytoplasm. RNA must therefore travel across the nuclear membrane before it undergoes translation. This means that transcription and translation are physically separated. The primary transcript, heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA), undergoes extensive post-transcriptional processing to make a messenger RNA (mRNA)molecule that can pass through the nuclear membrane.

What is a non-example of diffusion?
prisoha [69]
A non-example of diffusion is a brick.
Diffusion is termed as movement of molecules from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration. A good example is how oxygen enters the body during external respiration which is referred to as breathing.
Some of examples of diffusion are diffusion of mineral salt in the soil water into the root hairs cells. Diffusion of oxygen into the carbon dioxide and cell out of the cell in a unicellular like an amoeba, Diffusion of oxygen through the lungs and carbon dioxide out to the lungs of mammals.
Diffusion of carbon dioxide and oxygen out by the leaf through the stomata.

A large forested area is fragmented into small forest tracts separated by agricultural areas. This change will most likely lead
shtirl [24]

Answer:

Can lead to a drastic change, resulting in a decrease in the gene flow among the species of the original forest before fragmentation.

Explanation:

A forest that is divided into small pieces or areas for agricultural purposes will definitely drive away the organisms originally residing in the forest, thereby reducing the rate of mating, and subsequently decreasing the gene flow.

Agricultural areas are areas of land which are devoted to agriculture. That is, for cultivation of crops and rearing of livestock, most especially for commercial purposes.
