Meiosis can be described as a process of cell division in which four daughter cells are produced and the chromosome number in the daughter cells gets reduced to half of the parent chromosomes.

In anaphase 1, the homologue chromosomes are pulled apart and they get pulled in the opposite reaction. The sister chromatids are not separated in anaphase 1.

In anaphase 2, the sister chromatids get separated. They move towards the opposite pole.
