One of the gene variants in the globin family is for myoglobin. While hemoglobin is produced by red blood cells, myoglobin is pr

oduced by muscle cells and doesn't circulate. It's function is to store O2 in order to maintain homeostasis of muscle cells, with respect to oxygen Genetic equivelancy holds that all cells in an organism have all the genes needed. regardless of differentiation into cell type. Which of the following best describes why red blood cells don't produce myoglobin, even though they have the gene to do so?
a. None of these answers are correct
b. Chromatin remodeling
c. Alternative splicing
d. RNA interferance

Answer:

b. Chromatin remodeling

Explanation:

During initial stages in RBCs, the myoglobin gene expression is restricted through chromatin remodeling. <u>Chromatin remodelers which belong to CHD family are involved in chromosome condensation which mask the euchromatin portion of chromosomes containing genes for myoglobin expression with the help of histone proteins.</u> This leads to the masking of genes of myoglobin genes in RBCs and their expression does not take place.

Note: Mature red blood cells (RBCs) are dead cells and their only function is to transport the oxygen and nutrients to various body parts so they don't need to express any other gene than hemoglobin. RBCs become dead during later stages of their maturation, at that time their entire nucleus is degenerated but before doing that RBCs synthesize enough copies of hemoglobin gene product. This process is known as gene diminution.

Organism in which the embryonic blastopore becomes its anus Deuterostome

<u>Explanation:</u>

The term Deuterostome refers to second mouth. The first opening which is called blastpore becomes its anus in deuterostomes. In protostomes, this first opening will be the mouth.  The other name given to these Deuterostomes enterocoelomates. It is the enterocoely from which the   coelom of  Deuterostom starts emerging and growing.

Chordata, Echinodermata, Hemichordata are the classes of deuterostomes:. The zygote is the one that gets developed first in  protostomes and deuterostomes.Radial cleavage occurs in deuterostom in which the division of cells lies either in parallel direction or in perpendicular direction with respect to the polar axis.

archaeans differ from eukaryotes and bacteria in that Choose one: A. archaeal membranes use ester links to bond glycerol to side
Nady [450]

Answer:

D. archaeal membranes contain L-glycerol.

Explanation:

Archaea and eubacteria differ from each other with respect to the nature of membrane lipids. Lipids present in the membranes of the archaeans have the hydrocarbons derived from isoprene units. These hydrocarbons are branched and are attached to the glycerol with help of ether linkage. Ester linkages are present in eubacteria. The glycerol present in the archaeans is L- glycerol. Bacterial membranes have D-glycerol present in their lipids.

Suppose you increase your walking speed from 6 m/s to 11 m/s in a period of 3 s. What is your acceleration? Answer and units
Alexandra [31]

Acceleration  of a body is defined as rate of chance in velocity with respect to time and its S.I. Units are meter/sec^{2}/ or m/s^{2}

Magnitude of average acceleration of a body = (final speed - initial speed)/time interval = (v- u)/t

where, final speed =v= 11 m/s; initial speed = u = 6 m/s; and time interval = t = 3 s

Hence acceleration = (11-6)/3 = 5/3 = 1.67 m/s^{2}

Which substance completes active transport?
Nesterboy [21]

Active transport is usually associated with accumulating high concentrations of molecules that the cell needs, such as ions, glucose and amino acids. Examples of active transport include the uptake of glucose in the intestines in humans and the uptake of mineral ions into root hair cells of plants.
