The Romans stablished in England Roman law and it was studied and used in medieval western Europe. It was used in succeeding years and early English students used it. Many words in English come from latin. The Anglo-Saxons incorporated varios Roman legal practices, too.

The Roman heritage in Britain can be found in towns, plants, animals, a new religion and ways of reading and counting. Even the word ‘Britain’ came from the Romans. Roman roads have been converted into motorways and main roads Britain uses today. The military legacy of the Romans is one of the most apparent. They brought new weapons, armor and tactics. The Romans introduced the idea of living in big towns and cities. Roman towns were laid out in a grid, much like how  cities look today. Before Romans came, Britain was settled by various different pagan tribes. After Romans left, the standard of living was brought up to a much higher level. The heirs to the Roman ideal – Saxons, Danes, Normans, Plantagenets, Tudors, Georgians and Victorians – all of witch came after, tried to establish Britain as part of a wider empire, drawing on the example set by the Romans.
