Historians have long debated this but in my opinion, Franklin Roosevelt was our best President for the simple reason that over four terms, Roosevelt helped the United States weather a variety of economic, political, and military storms and by the end the US was a stronger country for those experiences.
The reason why vernacular literature eventually became the preferred way to produce books is because the "vernacular" was langue that the most people spoke--meaning that far more people were likely to buy books in the vernacular because they could understand them.
