I think your answer would be The Lousiana Purchase.

This is how I got my answer: https://www.loc.gov/rr/program/bib/ourdocs/missouri.htm

"In an effort to preserve the balance of power in Congress between slave and free states, the Missouri Compromise was passed in 1820 admitting Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. Furthermore, with the exception of Missouri, this law prohibited slavery in the Louisiana Territory north of the 36° 30´ latitude line. "(Missouri Compromise)

Could the fighting over slavery have been peacefully resolved?
morpeh [17]

Answer: no

Explanation: The reason that i say slavery could not have been easily resolved is because of the fact that the white men and woman thought that they were much better than the African Americans. And so in which they were treated as if they were object that belonged to the white men. And yes some white men and woman were kind to the African Americans but not enough. The African Americans were tortured and beat to death. The African Americans did not deserve what they had received. What some of the white men and woman did to the African Americans was inhuman and cruel. So like i said nothing could have ever been done peacefully because they thought that they were superior and better!
