Other than the simplistic, the British were our friends and allies. The US was also economically tied to the British war. JP Morgan was well-known to have helped finance the war effort in Britain and with a crumbling France and bankrupt Britain, there was economic pressure for the US to side with Britain to protect the economic interests of the wealthy. Additionally, Germany had not been helping themselves with the use of unrestricted submarine warfare and later the Zimmerman Telegram.

Which statement describes the role played by the U.S. journalists during the
umka21 [38]

Answer: The yellow press had a strong influence on American society.

Explanation:

The American-Spanish war was largely fueled by the tabloids in the United States. Media reports about the inhumane treatment of Cubans by Cranians left a strong impression on American society and the government. America was a young democratic nation at the time, a rising power, so the public felt it was unacceptable for such terrible things to happen in the neighborhood. The relevance of these inscriptions is debatable, but they certainly caused a state of anger among the American people towards the Spaniards, so that in those circumstances a war was started.
