B. to encourage eligible Americans to become soldiers

Further Explanation

The cause of World War I was because of France's revenge on Germany because France suffered defeat in the war of 1870 to 1871. Then another trigger was the industrial problem between Germany and Britain.

On 1 August 1914, Germany declared war on Russia, then followed by France which also declared war on Germany on 3 August 1914. Furthermore, on 4 August 1914, Britain also declared war with Germany. This event is called World War I.

World War I (PDI) is a centralized global war in Europe that began on July 28, 1914, until November 11, 1918. This war was often called the World War or the Great War from the time it occurred until the start of World War II in 1939, and the First World War or World War I after that. This war involves all the major powers of the world, which is divided into two opposing alliances, namely the Allies (based on Entente Three which consists of Great Britain, France, and Russia) and the Central Powers (centered on Alliance Three consisting of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy, but when Austria-Hungary carried out the attack while the alliance was defensive, Italy did not go to war).

1. Why were the northern Italian city states so wealthy during the Renaissance?
Svetlanka [38]

During the period of the Renaissance, Italy was divided into numerous small city-states controlled by local wealthy people. There were large differences though from one city-state to another, and while the northern ones were very wealthy and had things going very smoothly, the southern ones were much less successful.

The reason why the northern Italian city-states were so wealthy was mostly the trade. These city-states had excellent large ports. They were producing multiple things that were in high demand and also very well paid for for export, and were getting lot of things they needed and desired from the other parts of the world.

These states had very well developed fleets, and they were trading with multiple Asian regions, Europe, as well as parts of Africa. They were exporting their high quality products. Very often they were buying certain things from one place, then re-sell it in other place buy much higher prices, thus getting more and more wealth over time. That wealth enabled them to get all they needed without any problem, thus making them very stable and strong small states.
