The United States spent over $1 million and a lot of time helping Japan after World War ll because the wanted to cease the country from falling prey to communism and did not want it to come under the influence of Soviet Russia.

  • After World War II was over, Japan was left devastated owing to the bombings done by the United States.
  • Though the United States was responsible for the devastation of Japan, it took up the responsibility to rebuild it because the US feared that Soviet Russia would dominate already weakened Japan and bring it under its influence.
  • The US believed that Japan would become another large hub for communism like Soviet Russia was.
