Inga is most likely to attribute her own errors to <u>difficulty of the panel’s questions</u> and to attribute her opponent’s errors to her <u>inferior debating skills</u>.

<h3><u>Explanation:</u></h3>

In the election for the student body president, Inga is sure to look at herself as the better of the two candidates. Her confidence and competitive spirit pushes a belief in her forward that makes her believe that she is better than her opponent for the sake of winning, that’s why if she does any errors, she connects them not to a fault in herself but to the questions asked by the panel and their difficulty.

On the other hand, she thinks that since her opponent is inferior to her, she attributes her mistakes to her poor and inferior debating skills, in order to further the belief of Inga’s superiority in her mind.

What do you think is Paine’s purpose in this excerpt from Common Sense? Cite evidence from the excerpt to support your claim.
Strike441 [17]
The main content of the passage is to present a possible situation in which a violent leader imposes the law on the country by force ("at the point of the sword"), which presumably leads to many deaths. This was what has happened, in Paine's interpretation under William the Conqueror in England. The intention is to show that this situation is undesired in America and to encourage Americans to fight against such a government.
