Transposable elements or jumping genes has the ability to move from one site to another in the genome of an organism. The C value paradox indicates that the complexity of an organism doe not depend on the amount of the haploid content of DNA.
Transposable elements also correspond to the C value paradox. Their complexity can not be contributed by their amount of DNA. Their copy number can present on multiple chromosomes and their replication is controlled by the gene present on transposable element. The copy number of transposable element can increase in the next generation by copy and paste mechanism.
