A. The Social Contract

Thomas Hobbes is known for his social contract theory. It explains that people within a government have obligations to fulfill for the country. The government, on the other hand, have to grant the rights of the people. Two are bound to each with a social contract, an agreement. However, if the government neglects its duties to the people, they have the right not to follow or replace those that are in the leadership.

Which statement explains how tensions over power and authority led
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

Hello. You did not provide the answer options, but we can say that tensions over power and authority threatened the freedom of the American people in relation to the established government and for this reason, the founding fathers decided to establish a constitutional democracy.

Explanation:

A constitutional democracy is one that affirms that it establishes a separation between the state and its governors in relation to the rights of citizens and the economy. This type of democracy states that both the economy and citizens' rights have the capacity to self-regulate. State interference would only limit individual freedoms, in addition to promoting tensions over power and authority within the government.

In 100 to 150 words, explore the implications of the Magna Carta for people today. Base your answer on evidence from the course.
garri49 [273]

The implications of the Magna Carta for the people of today are many and very important.

First of all, let’s remind us that it was the first document in England that limited the the power of the king. This is something that we need to have present any time. That democracy –the voice of the people- never has to be suppressed.

In the medieval times, the King was the owner of people, land and government. Many atrocities were committed in the name of the monarchy. He was the only ruler and did things as his will. Nowadays, people need to value the freedom modern democracies have. Like in those years when the Magna Carta obligated the monarch to accept the laws and the respect people’s rights, now citizens need to be aware to defend the same principles and don’t take things for granted.
