Answer: Volunteering is a perfect opportunity to gain certain work experience which can significantly influence one's future. When we help others, it increases our self-esteem and makes us satisfied. Whether one is going to volunteer in his/her own community or in a national group depends on his/her preferences.

It could be argued that it is better to volunteer for an environmental group in your community. First of all, volunteering in one's own community is time-saving, because you do not have to travel to work every day. A person has more free time for the other activities that he/she wants to participate in. Moreover, it is quite fulfilling to do something useful for your own community and since you spend a lot of your time there, you are likely to notice the changes in the environment and results of your work.

In my opinion, it’s better to volunteer with an environmental group in your community whether than a national group because it’s smaller and can get more work done over a smaller range which will keep them undistracted. Many small organizations also partner with national organizations, so that they can clean over a wide range of places to help the earth.

Volunteering is a wonderful way of giving back to your community. As well as community services there can also be national volunteering groups that reach out to the greater amount of the population than community volunteering groups do. These national volunteering committees also become recognized more whereas local community helpers advertise in their specific location. A national volunteering organization is more likely to spend more money on it organization than a smaller volunteering program. This also means more fundraising, however the better marketing skills are also achieved in national community skills if you want to market or advertise you program the fund for advertising would increase for national programs. A national volunteering group can also have more volunteers and make a bigger impact or difference. They can attract more customers, since their population whom they are helping or advertising to is greater than a community volunteering group. National volunteering also looks good on resumes and is a great chance for interns. National volunteering does require traveling however, going outside and meeting new people is not always a bad thing and can build up your social skills as well as your overall experience. As a national volunteering committee, you can gain interest of other volunteers who would want to help you with your program. Not only will u attract more volunteers, yet you can get your program to higher offices or businesses. Depending on your area in volunteering or what you do. But you can still get businesses to collaborate with you and get paid partnership. Not only will businesses collaborate with you they can also make other customers give a chance at your product or organization. The more higher companies you collaborate with the more funds you can get. Causing an upgrade to your advertising system. You can advertise in multiple areas to grab the interest of all different types of people. All of these are the benefits of a national volunteering committee, and with a local community volunteering group most of these things would not be accomplished. Serving locally would limit raising awareness about your organization and many people would not be aware of you program. Therefore, working in a national volunteering program can bring benevolent advantages.

Read the excerpts from Chapter 4 of The Call of the Wild, and then respond to the journal prompt that follows.
natta225 [31]

This prompt is from Buck's POV.

I was just laying on the ground silently. Not moving, not making any noises, being repeatedly whipped over and over again. I understood Hal's rage. This was my first time ever failing at something. Of course he would be angry. Hal switched out to a club, which hurt a lot more. Like my friends, I wasn't able to get up. But I was the only one who decided not to get up. I just felt this feeling  for a long time, that something bad was going to happen. I was feeling like my time was just about over. The hits just stopped hurting as badly, and I felt numb. But suddenly, I heard a cry, almost like an animal cry. A man named John Thornton attacked the man holding the club.

I hope this helps!

VIME REMAINING
zaharov [31]

Answer:

When I was four years old, my dad and I planted a tree in our front yard.

Until I turned 18 years old, Dad and I measured it  every year on my birthday.

Explanation:

In the first example, the verb to plant is used in the Past Simple Tense. It is because the action, that the girl is talking about, has happened in the past, and there is a time order when I was four years old. This is a finished action with a finish time word.

In the second example, the verb to measure is used in the Past Simple Tense. It is because the action is repeating in the past and there is an expression every year.  This tense is used for that this repeated action is now completed and took a place in a specific time in the past.
