The separation of church and state i.e secularism
Florence had amassed huge wealth because of their famous bankers who gained power. These bankers and politicians, most notably the Medici family, used their wealth to pay for commissions from famous artists of the time which enriched the society. This is one of the reasons why the renaissance began in Italy.<span />
Basically they’re saying that Italians, Germans and Japan is the only group they can rely on. They will only trust each other and no one else. If they keep everything through marriage they will make each other more powerful. They can’t betray each other because they are “friends”. They can’t trust no one. It’s saying only marry Germans, Japanese and Italians. You can’t marry someone else for example: Americans, British people and so on because they are enemies. They will just bring you down and betray you.

(Native) - Our land has everything we need, we live from hunting and harvesting. What else do we need? Thanks for the tools you gave us to hunt, but your presence brought us diseases we did not have, a lot of people are dying.
