Sara Teasdale wrote this poem shortly after the Great War and this is important to understand the tone of the poem. In the first part she speaks of the beauty and rebirth of nature, how it comes to life everyday again. In the second part however she speaks about the war and the way the scars of the battle fade away with time , until all is forgotten. The first part uses figurative language to express the delightful and pleasing way nature works.

Question: Which statement best describes the effect of figurative language on the tone of the poem?

Answer: A. - The imagery of the animals and trees provides a soothing tone.

Answer:

A claim must be arguable but stated as a fact. It must be debatable with inquiry and evidence; it is not a personal opinion or feeling.

A claim defines your writing's goals, direction, and scope.

A good claim is specific and asserts a focused argument.

A sample response for an interview of your parents and grandparents to find out about the things/activities they used to do when they were your age is:

Parents and grandparents: Some of the things we used to do back then were:

 • Traditional dates
 • Hiking
 • Working at the mine
 • Going shopping with coupons, etc

What is an Interview?

This refers to the formal interaction between two or more persons where questions are asked and answers are expected and usually given.

Hence, we can see that when making an interview, it is important that you record the answers and results of the interview as this is considered a primary source of information.

The result of the interview is shown above and it is only a sample but would serve as a guide to help you record your own interview results with your parents and grandparents.

Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

Bierce's methodic writing style that provides detailed quiet, slow, suspenseful manner affects the readers by sudden withdrawn to reality when they have accepted the fact that Peyton Farquhar has escaped. But he is dead already.

Explanation:

"An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge " is a short story written by Ambrose Bierce. The story is about Peyton Farquhar, who is standing twenty feet above the water with his neck in the noose, at the beginning of the story.

The methodic writing style of Bierce providing a detailed description in a quiet, slow, and suspenseful manner, makes the readers believe that Peyton has actually escaped. But when Bierce slowly unveils the suspense, the readers get to know that he is already dead. This affects readers by hitting them with a sudden reality of what happened to Peyton.
