End behavior of polynomials I give 20 points
raketka [301]

The end behavior of a polynomial is determined entirely by the leading term. For example, 2x^4-x+1 behaves the same way as 2x^4 when x is very large in magnitude. All the problems in the picture are more or less the same. I'll pick out two examples:

1a) f(x)=5x^6-3x^3-4x^2+8x behaves like 5x^6. x^6 will be positive regardless of the value of x, so to either the left or right, the graph of f(x) will approach positive infinity or "rise" on both the left and right sides.

1c) f(x)=-4x(x-4)(x+2) has a leading term of -4x^3, so f(x) behaves like -4x^3. When x, we have x^3, so that -4x^3>0. This means f(x) rises to the left. If x>0, then -4x^3, so f(x) falls to the right.

matrenka [14]

Erick just needed to open the compass more to create arcs that have a radius of more than half the length of the segment AB. Option C

Steps in constructing a perpendicular bisector

The steps involved in constructing a perpendicular bisector are:

 • Draw a line segment XY of any appropriate length.
 • Take a compass, and with X as the center and with more than half of the line segment XY as width
 • Draw arcs above and below the line segment.
 • Repeat the same step with Y as the center.
 • Label the points of intersection as 'P' and 'Q'

Thus, Erick just needed to open the compass more to create arcs that have a radius of more than half the length of the segment AB. Option C

The complete question

Eric was attempting to construct a perpendicular bisector to the segment AB with a compass and straight edge. Which of the below statements explains what Eric may have done wrong?

a. Eric should have started by putting the compass needle point at the midpoint of the segment AB.

b. On the second step, Eric should have placed the compass needle point where the first arc intersected the segment AB.

c. Erick just needed to open the compass more to create arcs that have a radius of more than half the length of the segment AB.

d. Erick didn’t do anything wrong he just needs to connect the opposite endpoints of each arc to finish the construction.

Simultaneous equations no idea somebody help !
vodka [1.7K]

5r + 6s = 53

25r + 3s = 49

Meaning of simultaneous is to solve by elimination

Multiply the equation 2 by -2

-2( 25r + 3s = 49)

-50r – 6s = -98

Then add the two equation to eliminate s, so the resulting equation is:

-45r =-45

r = 1

substitute r = 1 to equation 1

5(1) + 6s = 53

6s = 53 – 5

6s = 48
