Answer:

The correct answer is c) Punic Wars

Explanation:

The Punic Wars were fought between 246 BC and 146 BC. The cause of the war was that Rome wanted to expand beyond Italy, first to Sicily, and then to Northern Africa. This obviously angered Carthage, which was located in Africa (in current day Tunisia).

Perhaps the most famous of three Punic Wars was the Second Punic War, in which Carthage general Hannibal participated. He is famous for crossing the alps with a huge army that included elephants, and laying seige in many italian cities after that. However, he was defeated.

The Punic Wars ended with a decisive Roman victory that allowed Rome to expand throughout the mediterranean sea.

When a researcher observes and records behavior without trying to manipulate the situation, this is Naturalistic observation.

What is naturalistic observation?

Naturalistic observation refers to when a researcher does not try to manipulate or control the subject of their research and the situation they are in.

The goal is to find out how the situation unfolds in its natural course and so interference would be ruled out. One area this is used is the observation of animals in the wild.

Ivanshal [37]

Answer:

Mid-range theory.

Explanation:

As the exercise explains, what Robert Merton developed as Middle-range theory is a style of sociology that avoids extremes: it focuses on institutions, not tiny groups and not whole societies, and it holds theory and empirical observation in balance. The way this is applied is, overall, to start with an empirical phenomenon which is then abstracted to create general statements to be verified, or not, by data. As it was mentioned before, it avoides extremes: it won't study small groups or whole societies, it will focus it's attention on institutions.
