Explanation: Imagery is a literary  device that consists in the use of detailed descriptions in order to evoke the reader's senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell or taste) and to create an image in the reader's mind. In the given excerpt we can see that Kennedy uses imagery to explain the force of rocket technology ("generating power equivalent to 10,000 automobiles with their accelerators on the floor") in this way he hopes the audience will be inspired to support expansion of the space program.
