Explanation:

Freudian defence mechanism is a psychological mechanism that has control over the anxiety, emotions caused due to unwanted stimuli. Sometimes these unwanted stimuli cause unhealthy results though its depend upon the nature of situation.

Here, Whitney runs into her ex boy friend and instead of reacting harmfully she keeps control over his emotion and mind. She just smile and offer her gesture and pleasure. It is displaying her reaction of formation where she achieved control over the negative stimuli and has not created any unhealthy mental environment for herself.
