Answer:

1- The New Right played a large role in the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980.

2- Reagan raised interest rates in order to meet the economic crisis of 1981.

3- Reagan’s economic policies would triple the national debt, increase split between rich and poor and cause large deficits.

4- Reagan’s policy was different from our normal containment policy. His program to oppose communism at every level was called Reagan Doctine.

5- Operations in Grenada, Lebanon and Nicaragua went on as part of Reagan’s fight against communism.

Explanation:

1- The overwhelming victory of President Ronald Reagan, on November 4, 1980, was due to the collapse of the Democratic Administration of President Jimmy Carter. Both because of the bad economic situation, and because of the American humiliation suffered by the Iranian Hostage Crisis. But other elements, such as the structuring of a new right in the US, contributed to the arrival of Republican Reagan to the White House.

2- To face the recession and a decade of high inflation, by order of Ronald Reagan the Federal Reserve raised interest rates to levels not seen since the Civil War, reducing the money supply and cutting the issuance of new dollars.

3- Reagan's tax policy was accused of generating a large deficit in the balance of payments and the federal budget and significantly raising the level of indebtedness.

4- The Reagan Doctrine was a doctrine of foreign policy created and implemented under the presidency of Ronald Reagan to combat the global influence exerted by the Soviet Union during the final years of the Cold War.

During this period and as a consequence of this diplomatic idea, the United States provided both open and clandestine aid to anti-communist guerrillas and insurgent groups in an effort to overthrow governments that supported the Soviet Union in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

5- During the government of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, Nicaragua suffered a protracted civil conflict fomented by the intervention of the United States of America under the administration of President Ronald Reagan, that formed and trained groups of anti-communist rebels known as Contras, financing a war that was unauthorized by Congress.
