Answer:

General Zaroff is killed by Rainsford in the denouement.

Explanation:

"The Most Dangerous Game" is a short story by Richard Connell. The main character, Rainsford, is on board a yatch when he accidentally falls into the ocean. He swims to an island known as Ship Trap and finds out it belongs to a Cossack General called Zaroff.

Zaroff, who is also a hunter, is excited to have the famous Rainsford in his island. He tells Rainsford he has grown tired of hunting animals and has found bigger and more intelligent game to hunt. He then reveals he is now hunting humans, thinking Rainsford will be happy to join him is his hobby. Rainsford is horrified and refuses. He ends up becoming Zaroff's prey.

Zaroff chases Rainsford through the forest in the island. While his prey has only a hunting knife, the general has a pistol and dogs. Rainsford eventually jumps from a cliff into the ocean and Zaroff regrets not having caught him. However, Rainsford is waiting for him in his own mansion, hidden behind curtains. When Zaroff locks himself in to sleep, he is attacked and killed by Rainsford.

Answer:

Turner is relieved the beach is empty; he hates being watched by the townspeople because he is the preacher's son.

Explanation:

The fact that Turner was the son of preacher does not afford him so much freedom as he does not like to be watched by the people. This could be seen from the excerpt, where it is said that, if Turner saw just one person on shore, he would light out, This shows that Turner enjoys freedom, but he was living a restrained lifestyle due to his father's status.
