Ashley lives in a town 360 miles directly north of orlando. One Saturday, she takes the train from her town to Orlando. The trai

n travels at a constant speed of 60 mph,and after 2.5 hours, she sees a sign that states,"orlando: 210 miles" A) Write an equation to represent d(x), the distance Ashley is from Orlando after x hours. B) graph the equation, be sure to label your axes and scales.

The distance that Ashley still needs to travel after 2.5 hours will be represented by the equation,
                                    d(x) = 210 - 60x
The second term in the right side of the equation is the distance traveled given that the speed is 60 mph.

Answer: 360-60x

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the time ( independent variable )

Given: The distance between Orlando and the town where Ashley lives = 360 miles

The constant speed of train = 60 mph

Since Distance= speed \times time

Thus, distance travel by Ashley after x hours= 60x

Let d(x) be the distance Ashley is from Orlando after x hours, then

[tex]d(x)=360-60x\\\Rightarrow\ d(x)=60(6-x)[/te

To plot the graph we need to find points .

For the first point put x=0, we get y=360

and for the second point put y= 0, we get x=6

Then take scale for y axis is 1=100 miles and scale for x axis is 1=one hour.

Then draw a line from the points we have find as shown in graph.
