Answer:

"The New Colossus"

The way the author's word choice convey the tone of "The New Colossus"

The idealistic tone in the New Colossus was buttressed with words and phrases like “Give me, ... yearning to be free, I lift my lamp, etc.”  With such words and phrases, the author asserted that the Statue of Liberty, which he described as the New Colossus, had spread her arms to welcome immigrants from Europe.

Explanation:

With the Statue of Liberty, the United States symbolically welcomed immigrants and offered them freedom, opportunity, and hope.  Comparing the Statue of Liberty to the ancient Greek Colossus of Rhodes, the poet Emma Lazarus (1883) presented this "New Colossus" as a patroness of immigrants rather than a show of military might.

coldgirl [10]

“Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow,

That I shall say good night till it be morrow.”

This is line from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Juliet says this to her lover Romeo. Although she is sad she has to say goodnight, she is also excited for the next time she will see him again. It was a sweet goodbye.

This line stayed relevant over the years because it embodied the passion and romance the play was famous for. It represented the tragedy that comes with love, the sadness that must come with happiness. It epitomized the mixed emotions in a relationship that people from all across generations can relate to.

Paladinen [302]

The above question wants to analyze your reading and writing ability through a summary written by you. In that case, it's not right for me to write this summary for you, but I'll show you how to write one.

A summary is a text that presents the most important parts of another text, in a short, objective, and direct way.

In this case, to write your summary, you must:

  • Read the entire text to which the question refers.
  • Identify the most important parts, which are responsible for conveying the meaning of the text to the reader.
  • Rewrite these parts, adapting them and forming a cohesive but direct text.

Don't forget to use your own words, but keep the meaning of the original text to avoid plagiarism.
