Hey there!!

Using the remainder theorem :

x + 1 = 0

x = -1

The remainder is -12.

Plugging in the values :

... 2x³ - mx² + nx - 2 = -12

... 2x³ - mx² + nx = - 10

... 2 ( - 1 )³ -m ( -1 )² + n ( -1 )

... -2 - m -  n = - 10

... - m - n = -8

Let's take the other one :

x - 2 = 0

x = 2

Plugging in the values :

2x³ - mx² + nx - 2 = 0

2x³ - mx² + nx = 2

2 ( 2 )³ - m ( 2 )² + n ( 2 ) = 2

16 - 4m + 2n = 2

- 4m + 2n = -14

Let's get both the equations together :

- m - n = -8  ---- ( 1 )

- 4m + 2n = -14  ---- ( 2 )

......................................................................................................................................................................

Multiply the first equation with 2

- 2m - 2n = -16 --- ( 1 )

- 4m + 2n = -16 --- ( 2 )

Add both the equations.

...................................................................................................................................................................... - 6m = - 32

m = -32 / - 6

m = 32 / 6

m = 16 / 3

Substitute this value to get the value of ' n '

- m - n = - 8

- 16 / 3 - n = - 8

- n = - 8 + 16 / 3

- n = - 8 / 3

n = 8 / 3

m = 16 / 3 and n = 8 / 3

Hope my answer helps!!

m = 5 and n = 3

let f(x) = 2x³ - mx² + nx - 2 , then

f( - 1 ) = - 2 - m - n - 2 = - 12

f(2 ) = 16 - 4m + 2n - 2 = 0

Tidying up the 2 equations

- m - n = - 8 → (1)

- 4m + 2n = - 14 → ( 2)

multiply equation ( 1) by 2

- 2m - 2n = - 16 → ( 3 )

add ( 2 ) and ( 3 ) term by term

-6m = - 30 ⇒ m = 5 ( substitute m = 5 into (2 )

- 20 + 2n = - 14

2n = 6 ⇒ n = 3

The function f is defined by f(x)=2.1x−1.7. Use this formula to find the following values of f. f(x+2)
Yuki888 [10]

The value of f(x+2)=2.1x+2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The function f(x)=2.1x-1.7

Using this formula, we need to find the value of f(x+2)

Hence, we need to substitute x by x+2 to find the value of f(x+2)

f(x+2)=2.1(x+2)-1.7

Multiplying the term (x+2) by 2.1, we get,

f(x+2)=2.1x+4.2-1.7

Adding the constant term,

f(x+2)=2.1x+2.5

Thus, the value of f(x+2) is f(x+2)=2.1x+2.5

ale4655 [162]

Answer:

A) 10.38hours

B) 617.95 is the concerntration of CO

Step-by-step explanation:

A) when x=600

T= 0.0002x^2 - 0.316x + 127.9

T= 0.0002(600)^2 -0.316(600) + 127.9

T= 10.38secs

B) to find the concerntration, use Almighty formular

X=-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac)/2a

0.0002x^2-0.316x-127.9=9

0.0002x^2 - 0.316x + 118.9=0

X= 0.316 +- sqrt(0.316^2) -4(0.0002×118.9)/(2×0.0002)

X= 0.316+(0.68817/0.0004)=962.05 or

X=-0.316 -0.68817/0.0004 =617.95

Therefore X is within the domain of 617.95 is the concerntration
