In the 1980's US presidential campaign, Republican candidate Ronald Reagan won the election against the then current president Jimmy Carter, by rallying voters under the promises of economic progress, relying on the free market and capitalism as the main tools to fix the nation's economy.

Additionally, Reagan's economic plan was centered around three main focuses: Reducing government spending, Taxes, and Regulation.

These three aspects defined what was called as the "Regan Revolution", and it tip the election in his favor against Carter, who didn't possess a well defined economic plan, and was often considered vague and vacillating.
