The area that lies directly east of the Rocky Mountains, in the center of North America, is the Great Plains area.
The Great Plains is a high and wide plateau that extends east of the Rocky Mountains, on the American continent, and covers the Mexican state of Coahuila, the Americans of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota. In Canada, they extend through the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Throughout the region there are many farms dedicated to agriculture and livestock. It also has large deposits of oil and coal. Every 25 years approximately, the region suffers droughts and devastating sandstorms.
