How do I solve for x

Mathematics

Answer:

<h3>x = 40/7</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

Look at the picture.

If ABC is any triangle and AD bisects (cuts in half) the angle BAC, then

\dfrac{AB}{BD}=\dfrac{AC}{DC}

In our triangle we have the proportion:

\dfrac{x}{8}=\dfrac{10-x}{6}            <em>cross multiply</em>

6x=8(10-x)               <em>use distributive property</em>

6x=(8)(10)+(8)(-x)

6x=80-8x                   <em>add 8x to both sides</em>

14x=80            <em>divide both sides by 14</em>

x=\dfrac{80}{14}

\boxed{x=\dfrac{40}{7}}

If k(t)=3/4t-3 what is the value of k(-12)?
Valentin [98]

Answer:

-3.0625

Step-by-step explanation:

just plug in -12

3/4t-3

3/2(-12)-13

then solve to get -3.0625 or -3.06

and this is how you solve any problem like this.

PLEASE HELP ASAP! NO SCAMS ALLOWED!
Kitty [74]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I used calculus for this, as I'm not sure there's any other way to do it and to do it as easily. This is the volume of a solid found by using the disk method of rotation:

V=\pi\int\limits^a_b {[R(x)]^2-[r(x)]^2} \, dx

where R(x) is the outer shell of the solid and r(x) is the space inbetween the solid and the axis of rotation. There is no space between the solid and the axis of rotation, so r(x) = 0. R(x) is the height of the solid which is 3. Therefore, f(x) = 3 and that's the function we put into the formula with the lower bound of 3 and the upper bound of 5:

V=\pi\int\limits^5_3 {3^2}-0^2 \, dx  and

V-\pi\int\limits^5_3 {9} \, dx  and integrating:

V=\pi(9x\left \} {{5} \atop 3}} \right. and using the First Fundamental Theorem of Calculus:

V = π(9(5) - 9(3)) and

V = π(45 - 27) so

V = 18π units cubed or in decimal format,

V = 56.549 units cubed

At which values of x does the graph of the function F(x) have a vertical asymptote? Check all that apply. f(x)=x+4/x^2+5x-24
mr Goodwill [35]

Answer:

x = -8   &   at x = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a rational function.

We can get the values of x at which vertical asymptotes occur by setting the denominator equal to 0 and solving for x.

Let's do this:

x^2+5x-24=0\\(x+8)(x-3)=0\\x=-8,3

Hence, vertical asymptotes occur at x = -8 & at x = 3
