Midpoints are quite easy once you know the rule.  The coordinates of the midpoint are just the average of the coordinates of the two points...

The midpoint of this lines is:

((-2+10)/2, (3+3)/2)

(8/2, 6/2)

(4, 3)

Let's find out!

-5 + x * x + 4.

-5 + x^2 + 4.

-5 + 4 + x^2.

-1 + x^2.

5 + x * x - 4.

5 + x^2 - 4.

5 - 4 + x^2.

1 + x^2

So, they are NOT the same, because one of the "1"'s are negative, and the other is positive.
