Julian measures the distance he drives to work each day using the odometer on his car, which measures distance in miles, accurat

e to the nearest tenth of a mile. His drive is in a rural area, with few stops and little traffic, so for the most part, Julian can maintain a consistent speed throughout the drive. If the odometer reads 11.7 miles, and it tak approximately 15 minutes, what is Julian's average speed on the drive? Express your answer using an appropriate level of accuracy

Concept:
If we want to measure the average speed then we will need the distance covere by an object and also the time it will take to cover that distance.
Then we use the formula,
                                   speed=v= \frac{distance}{time}
Now,in our question
Distance=d=11.7 miles
Time=t= 15 min
                                   speed=v= \frac{11.7 mile}{15 min}
                                                       =0.78 mile/min
                                                        =0.8 mile/min

the only like-terms are on the right-hand-side, since the left-hand-side has only 1 term anyway.

\bf \cfrac{5}{2}s=\cfrac{3}{2}s+s\implies \cfrac{5}{2}s=\cfrac{3}{2}s+\cfrac{s}{1}\implies \cfrac{5}{2}s=\stackrel{\textit{using the LCD of 2}}{\cfrac{(1)3s+(2)s}{2}} \\\\\\ \cfrac{5}{2}s=\cfrac{3s+2s}{2}\implies \cfrac{5}{2}s = \cfrac{5}{2}s

What is 48,020,000 expressed in scientific notation?
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:

4.802 x 10^7

Step-by-step explanation:

Move the decimal place one number in from the furthest to the right, which is the four. Then count how many digits there is to the right of it, that is your power of ten. The decimal will not come after only a zero. I don't know how well I can explain it but that is the right answer.
