Andrew Jackson was the commander or something like that for the war of 1812, he was elevated to national fame for the battle of new Orleans, which by itself was insignificant, but they still won. Jackson also recruited enough people to double the size of the army, but of course, after they had lost the war, was when the battle of New Orleans took place.
