Between Henry VII's and Elizabeth I's reigns, the official English position on Christianity changed from The English Monarch as the Supreme Head of Christianity to Catholics being persecuted.

Why did Elizabeth feel threatened by Catholics?

Catholics believed that Mary was England's legitimate monarch. Elizabeth I was declared excommunicated (thrown out) of the Catholic Church in 1570, and the Pope issued a Papal Bull of Excommunication instructing Catholics not to follow her. Elizabeth was thus in danger from the Catholic Church by the 1580s.

How did Catholics fight back against Elizabeth?

The Pope actively encouraged Elizabeth's assassination plots in 1570 by issuing a Papal Bull of Excommunication against her. Additionally, the Pope encouraged Catholic priests to carry out covert missions in England to bring people back to Roman Catholicism.

Answer:
On behalf of the NY times I went down to visit the factories where supposedly nearly half of the working population work. As soon as I entered the meat factory there was a putrid smell that nearly made me turn around on the spot. I ventured further in and saw that meat being packaged and sent off to consumers were lying on the floor that looked like it had nearly 2 layers of saw dust coating it! There were rats scurrying around and the workers had no protective gear and touched the meat bare-handed. I went down to the living areas of one of the factory men and the streets were filled with potholes and once again rats were scurrying around. There living area was extremely cramped and an entire family of 5 were living in 1 room. Overall, the living conditions as well as the factory working conditions could only be described as horrid and monstrous.
