How did the United States change between 1776 and 1870?
Rainbow [258]
Population in 1770 = 2,148,100 Population in 1870 = 38,558,371 The most important event was obviously the American Civil War from 1861-1865. This led to the 14th Amendment which defined a citizen as "any person born or naturalized in the US." The 13th Amendment abolished slavery, and the 15th Amendment prohibits denying the right to vote to someone because of their race. Other key events include the Louisiana Purchase, the Texas Revolution, The Spanish-American War, the War of 1812, the purchase of Alaska, the Mexican Cession, the Indian Wars, and the California Gold Rush. Like I said, the right to vote was extended to all male citizens by the 15th Amendment. Women were not given the right to vote until the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920.

Alex777 [14]

New technology had improved lives in the 20s drastically because factories started producing items people had never used or seen before, a specific example would be washing machines and refrigerators. sellers started to sell them for higher prices because people didn't exactly know what they were and assumed it would make their lives easier

Why did Dulles believe that brinkmanship strengthened U.S. foreign policy
netineya [11]
He believed it did so because brinksmanship policies usually led to the Brink of a war without actually having the war begin, where usually the Soviets would back down first, like a game of chicken. US would be stronger in its foreign policy because others would see that the Soviets were weaker and not prepared to enter a war.
