William Lloyd Garrison was a prominent activist, who fought for the rights of the African-Americans and women. He was a journalist and strove for society to change its flawed views on race and gender. He wrote many articles and columns denoting the barbarity of slavery and then became a writer for "The Liberator", an anti-slavery newspaper in New England. It had a small number of readers, but gained traction in the North, as well as England, Scotland and Canada.
