The Houston uproar of 1917, or Camp Logan revolt, was a mob by 156 fighters of the Third Battalion of the all-dark Twenty-fourth United States Infantry Regiment after conflicts with the Houston Police Department. Soon after the United States pronounced war on the German Empire in the spring of 1917, the War Department raced to develop two new army bases in Harris County, Texas — Camp Logan and Ellington Field. On July 27, 1917, the Army requested the Third Battalion of the Twenty-fourth United States Infantry Regiment to Houston to protect the Camp Logan building site.

The regiment made a trip to Houston via train from their camp at Columbus, New Mexico, joined by seven authorized officers
