In this excerpt from "Ambush", by Tim O'Brien, the word that best helps establish the tone is C. fog. In this excerpt, the author recounts his experience when he saw the young soldier coming out of the morning fog with an ammunition belt. Without thinking, O'Brien pulled the key of the grenade, and the soldier was killed by it. Twenty years from that moment he still thinks of it and imagines the soldier passing by.

musickatia [10]

The essay wants to know your interpretation of the two poems and as I cannot have access to that, I cannot write the essay. Also, you didn't say which poems should be read. However, I will show you how the essay should be written.

Essay structure

 • Introduction: Introduce the two poems, their authors, and what subjects they address. The introduction should be a short paragraph that introduces the subject of your essay.

 • Body: Write two paragraphs. These paragraphs should be long as this is where you will compare and contrast the two poems. In the first paragraph, you must show the similarities between the two poems. These similarities can be in the theme, the structure, the number of stanzas and lines, in the figure of speech, among other elements. These same elements may present differences and these differences will be shown in the second paragraph.

 • Conclusion: This paragraph should also be short and should highlight the most important points of the essay. Show how the differences and similarities are significant and how this makes the poems effective.

You will need to read and understand the poems before writing your essay. you can complement this reading with articles that analyze the poems and show you more detailed information about them.

Here is an example introduction to the essay.

Literature is full of diversity and peculiarity, which makes literary works similar and different in several elements, making the reading richer and more fruitful. An example of this can be seen in the poems ______ and ______, written by ______ and _____.
