(A) the distributive property is multiplying the number outside the parenthesis with the expression inside.
0.2(2000 + 350s)
= 0.2(2000) + 0.2(350s)
= 400 + 70s

(B) you are given that s = 50
use this in the equation to find the companies profit.
= 400 + 70(50)
= 400 + 3500
= 3900

The distributive property is a rule that says a(b+c) can be written as ab+ac. You can see a "distributes" over b and c.

So in this exercise (part A), you get 0.2*2000 + 0.2*350s which simplifies to 400 + 70s

In Part B, you fill in 50 for s, and get 3900
