Breathing deeply will help to calm his nerves and clear his mind and help him to compose himself and thinking positively will allow him to see how he has been successful and what are the reasons for his success to share with the audience and realizing that since it is impromptu the audience will probably be more forgiving than if he had a prepared speech.
