A jump rope held stationary by two children, one at each end, hangs in a shape that can be modeled by the equation h=0.01x^2 - x

+ 27, where h is the height (in inches) above the ground and x is the distance (in inches) along the ground measured from the horizontal position of one end. How close to the ground is the lowest part of the rope?

Answer with explanation:

To find the height of rope from other end of the equation,

       h=0.01 x² - x + 27, where h is the height (in inches) above the ground and x is the distance (in inches) along the ground measured from the horizontal position of one end.

We will Substitute,

  h=0,and get ,two roots of the Quadratic function.

\rightarrow 0.01 x^2- x + 27=0\\\\ x=\frac{-(-1)\pm \sqrt{(-1)^2-4\times (0.01) \times 27}}{2\times 0.01}\\\\x=\frac{1\pm \sqrt{1-1.08}}{2\times 1}

→→For a quadratic function of the type, ax² +b x +c=0

Roots can be obtained by the formula

    x=\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{D}}{2a},{\text{where}}, D=b^2-4 a c

As the two roots obtained are not real.

It will not cut the x axis.

Now, finding the vertex of the parabola,which has coordinate, (50,2).

→Lowest part of the rope is 2 inches above the ground.

For,the quadratic function

  →y=0.01 x² - x + 27

 → y =0.01×(x² -100 x  + 2700)

 →y = 0. 01 ×[(x-50)²-2500+2700]

→y -2 = 0.01 (x-50)²

⇒Vertex = (50,2)

h=2 inches→→Lowest part  of the rope above the ground.

Step-by-step explanation:

the slope is always the factor of x.

it is expressed as ratio y/x indicating how many units y changes when x changes a certain amount of units.

parallel means they have the same slope (factor of x).

perpendicular (90 degrees) means x and y trade places upside-down, and the sign is flipped.

so,

10) neither. we have the slopes -2/1 and 1/1.

11) parallel. the slopes -1/2 and -1/2.

12) perpendicular. the slopes 5/1 and -1/5.

16) parallel. special case. all points that have x=4 and x=2. these are 2 vertical lines (parallel to the y-axis also known as x=0).

17) perpendicular. special cases. all points that have y=2 and all points that have x=5. this is one horizontal line and one vertical line, which makes them perpendicular.

You may need to use the appropriate technology to answer this question. In a completely randomized design, 11 experimental units
Sliva [168]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

You have the information of an analysis of variance of 1 factor with 3 treatments.

Treatment 1 has 11 experimental units.

Treatment 2 has 14 experimental units.

Treatment 3 has 20 experimental units.

The whole experiment has a total sze of n= 11+14+20= 45 experimental units.

Unfortunatelly only with the sample size you cannot calculate all values of the ANOVA table, you need at least the information of either two Sum of Squares (SS) or one Sum of Squares and one Means Square (MS).

Tha first attachments shows how to construct the table by hand.

I'll use as example the following data:

SSTr= 1200

SSTotal= 1800

The Total SS is obtained by adding the SS of Treatmets + SS of error, so the SSerror is:

SSerror= SSTotal - SSTr= 1800 - 1200= 600

To calculate each Mean Square you have to divide the SS by the Degrees of Freedom, so next step is to calculate the Degrees of Freedom:

DFTr= k-1

Where k represents the number of Treatmets of the experiment.

DFTr= 3-1= 2

DFerror= n-k

DFerror= 45-3= 42

DFTotal= n-1= 45-1= 44

Now you can calculate the MS

MSTr= SSTr/DFTr= 1200/2= 600

MSerror= SSerror/DFerror= 600/42= 14,2857≅ 14.29

And the next step is to calculate the value of the test:

F= MSTr/MSerror= 600/14.29= 41,99

Finally the p-value.

The hypothesis test of ANOVA is one-tailed to the right under the Stedecors-F distribution with degrees of fredom (DFTr;DFerror)

F_{DFTr;DFerror}= F_{2;42}

The P-value is

P(F_{2;42}≥41.99)= 1 - P(F_{2;42}<41.99)= 1 - 0.9999= 0,0001‬

I hope it helps!
