36. Read the following excerpt from “In Another Country” by Ernest Hemingway.

English

timofeeve [1]3 years ago

I think the mood in the excerpt is shocked and somber.

They people are shocked by the swiftness of the sickness. They did not anticipate the grim outcome.  This is because the patient is very young and should have a stronger immune system and she has been sick for only a few days.

"who was very young"
"She had been sick only a few days. No one expected her to die."

jeyben [28]
Divide the area by the width (or the number that the problem gave you). So 635.4/18. This will give you the length because of the formula
length x width = area (formula for the area of a rectangle). So in this case the answer should be 35.3

If you want to check your work just multiply the width by the length. 35.3x18= 635.4

Gordon Sterrett is embarrassed by his appearance. Which sentence from the passage best supports this statement?
Over [174]

Answer:

"This latter effect heightened by an unnatural glow which colored his face like a low, incessant fever."

Explanation:

The above sentence from the given excerpt most likely displays that Gordon Sterrett was extremely appalled by his shabby appearance. There is a detailed description of his appearance in the excerpt as 'small, slender, and darkly handsome, unusually framed eyes with long eyelashes with a blue semicircle of ill health' which clearly justifies Gordon's embarrassment to see him. The negative words 'unnatural glow', 'low face', and 'incessant fever' supports this claim effectively and justifies it constructively.
