gency rents its cars for a daily fee, plus an additional charge per mile driven. judy recalls that her first trip lasted 4 days she drove 370 miles and the rental cost her $244.50. on her 2nd business trip she drove 190 miles in 3 days and paid $161.50 for the rental. find the daily fee and the millage charge.

Create a system of 2 equations

Let x be daily fee and y the mileage charge, then

4x + 370y = 244.50...........(1)

3x + 190y = 161.50..............(2)

If we multiply (1) by 3 and (2) by -4 and add the 2 equations we eliminate x:-

12x + 1110y = 733.50

-12x - 760y = -646 Adding :-

350y = 87.5 so y = 0.25

Plugging y = 0.25 into eqation (1) we get 4x = 244.50 - 0.25 * 370

giving x = 38

Answer is daily fee = $38 and mileage charge = $0.25 per mile.

Let daily rate be x and mileage be y.

4x + 450y = 240.50

3x + 200y = 146.00

Multiply 1st equation by 3 and second equation by 4

12x + 1350y = 721.50-----(1)

12x + 800y = 584.00 ------(2)

Subtracting you get:

550 y = 137.50 or y = 0.25

Substituting value for y in equation (2) you get

x = 32.00

Daily rate = $ 32.00 and mileage = $ 0.25

Is sec (−θ) equal to sec θ or - sec θ? How do you know?
Lorico [155]

Answer:

sec(- θ ) = secθ

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between sec and cos is

sec x = \frac{1}{cosx}

Now cos(- x) = cosx

Thus

sec(- θ ) = secθ

Which table represents an arithmethic sequence?
Fiesta28 [93]

Table 3  represents an arithmetic sequence.

Solution:

To find which table represents an arithmetic sequence:

In arithmetic sequence difference of each term is equal.

d=a_n-a_{n-1}

Table 1:

d=a_2-a_1

  = –12 – (–6)

d = –6

d=a_3-a_2

  = –24 – (–12)

d = –12

Here differences are not equal.

So table 1 not represents an arithmetic sequence.

Table 2:

d=a_2-a_1

  = 9 – 7

d = 2

d=a_3-a_2

  = 13 – 9

d = 4

Here differences are not equal.

So table 2 not represents an arithmetic sequence.

Table 3:

d=a_2-a_1

  = 7.3 – 8.7

d = –1.4

d=a_3-a_2

  = 5.9 – 7.3

d = –1.4

d=a_4-a_3

  = 4.5 – 5.9

d = –1.4

d=a_5-a_4

  = 3.1 – 4.5

d = –1.4

Here differences are equal.

So table 3 represents an arithmetic sequence.

Answer:

1. 1/x = 8

Answer = 8x-1

2. 8x+1=3

Answer ; x=1/4

3. 7= 14/X

Answer ; x = 2

4.1/2x^2 = 2

Answer ;x=2

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{1}{x} =8 \\8x = 1\\\\\\8x+1=3\\Collect -like- terms \\8x =3-1\\8x = 2\\Divide -both -sides- by ;8\\\frac{8x}{8} =\frac{2}{8} \\x = 1/4\\\\\\7= \frac{14}{x} \\Cross -multiply\\7x =14\\Divide-both-sides-by-7\\x = 2\\\\\\\frac{1}{2} x^{2} =2\\\frac{x^{2} }{2} =2\\Cross-multiply\\x^{2} =4\\Squre-root -both-sides\\\sqrt{x^2}=\sqrt{4}  \\x = 2\\
