Answer:

x =  10/3

Step-by-step explanation:

x - 1/2x + 2 = -x + 7

1/2x + 2 = -x + 7

       -2          -2

1/2x = -x + 5

+x       +x

3/2x = 5

x2/3  x2/3

x =  10/3

Why is it necessary to apply inverse operations on both sides of the equals l sign when solving an equations
liraira [26]
Take this example (cause it's easy to explain)

10+5x=15x

To solve it we have to minus five on both side. We have to do this because we need to isolate the variable (in this case x) on the one side so we can divide and solve.

You would -5x (inverse from positive 5) from both sides on this because whatever you do to one side you have to do to the others to make it equal. In this case the answer would be x=1 (again cause it's easy lol.)

I hope this helps you!

Shannon saves 1235 in november. In november, she saved $250 less than she did in december. How much money did she save in the tw
madam [21]
In December she would have saved $1585 because 1235 + 250 = 1485. You can find how much money she raised in those 2 months by adding the totals of both months together, so 1485 + 1235 = 2720. She saved $2720 in the 2 months.

Solve for x<br> logx+log(x-4)=2log5
sleet_krkn [62]
\log{x} + \log{(x-4)} = 2 \log{5}\\\\&#10;\log{\big(x(x-4)\big)} = \log{5^2}\\\\&#10;\log{(x^2-4x)} = \log{25} \\\\&#10;x^2-4x = 25\\\\&#10;x^2-4x-25=0 \\\\&#10;x = \frac{4 \pm\sqrt{16+100}}{2} \\\\&#10;x = \frac{4\pm2\sqrt{29}}{2} \\\\&#10;x = 2 \pm \sqrt{29} \\\\&#10;\text{But } x > 0 \implies x = 2 + \sqrt{29}

Answer: Choice A

Raising something to the 1/4th power is the same as applying the 4th root to that expression. Raising an expression to the 1/n power is the same as applying the nth root.

Rule:
x^{1/n} = \sqrt[n]{x}
(if the text is too small it basically says x to the (1/n) = square root with a small 'n' all over x)
