While it was true that western lands were somewhat more fertile than the now-depleted lands of the East, many of the pioneers were attracted to the frontier in order to speculate in land, i.e. to purchase large quantities of cheap government land and to sell it at a profit to later comers
The Food Administration during WWI controlled rations and food supply. The War Trade Bond I believe supplied and controlled U.S. militaries w/ military weapons. Hence, it was B. Committee on Public Information which controlled propaganda during WW1.

The United States was heavily influenced by the French Revolution. Moreover, when French diplomats signed the Treaty of Alliance in 1778, they essentially vouched for the United States. French supported contributed to the independence of the United States and success in the revolutionary war
