The movement started as the civil rights campaign in America for African Americans against discrimination and segregation.  People were marching and protesting silently against the Jim Crow Laws. The segregation towards African Americans in American society continued after the reconstruction era despite the rectification of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.
