The mouth of the Mississippi River in New Orleans and the Seaport have severely negatively impacted the environmental area. Hurricanes can hit the area and for example New Orleans is mostly below sea level, this caused a major disaster in the area of which they are still feeling the economic impact of not being prepared for such a major catastrophe .
