Jonathan has 7 hours to finish three jobs. If the first job takes him 2 3/4 hours and the second joob takes him 1 5/6 hours, how much time does he have to complete the third job?

This is a sum problem first you add the two known (2 3/4 + 1 5/6)
=4 7/12 hours for these both jobs 
after you subtract this number from 7 
2 5/12 is the answer
