Why did the early Americans called Indios?
katovenus [111]

Answer:

Columbus's logic behind his amazingly daring leap into the unknown was true: if the world was round, he would ultimately reach India and he called the Americans as Indians.

Explanation:

The rustic Italian inventor set out westward from Europe on one fine day in 1492, aspiring to arrive India by a western route as faced to the eastward one that the explorers and traders of the day used to travel by, irrespective of whether he traveled east or west. And so he set out, Into the Atlantic Ocean. On a voyage that no one, not even his crew, really believed in.

identify a major military and political accomplishment of Queen Elizabeth 1 around the turn of the seventeenth century
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer: Elizabeth’s refusal to marry was the cause of great national and international discussion. It was generally believed at that time that only men were suited to rule and that the proper role for a woman was that of a wife. Beyond this notion, however, the dynastic and diplomatic stakes of a possible royal marriage were very high. If Elizabeth died childless, the Tudor line would come to an end, and her Catholic cousin Mary, Queen of Scots, would assume the throne in England. Protestants viewed the possibility of a Catholic monarch as a nightmarish threat that could best be averted if Elizabeth produced a Protestant heir. The queen’s marriage decision was critical not only for the question of succession but also for the tangled web of international diplomacy. England, isolated and militarily weak when Elizabeth first came to the throne, sorely needed the major alliances that a marriage could create. Yet Elizabeth found that remaining unmarried gave her a most useful diplomatic weapon, particularly when playing the rivals France and Spain against each other. With suitors from these and other countries, Elizabeth skillfully kept marriage negotiations going for months, even years—as long as it was to her advantage.

Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

Initially, Rome was ruled by kings, with Romulus being the first. After only 7 kings had ruled, the Roman people decided to govern themselves, so they formed their own type of government. Despite having a fearsome army that enslaved thousands of people, the Roman government was democratic. The people would gather together to discuss which officials to elect. In the Roman government there were two consuls who were elected as the chief officials. The consuls would lead for a year and if they were not liked they would be ousted in the following election, however if they were liked, they could stay in office.
