A pesar de que no se incluyen opciones o referencias, podemos decir que las razones que tenían las principales potencias Europeas para querer la primacía en las rutas comerciales con Oriente era el control y el dominio de esas rutas por encima de sus acérrimos rivales. Recordemos que en esas épocas, las grandes potencias Europeas como Gran Bretaña. Francia, Europa, Portugal, Holanda y Alemania, se disputaban las rutas comerciales para ejercer un dominio que les facilitara el control del comercio por mar y tierra. Controlar rutas terrestres y marítimas les daría una clara ventaja económica y política.
