In European literature, writers focus on sentence-by-sentence perfection, which capture readers’ emotions and make much more palpable the weight of history.

Similarly, when someone starts reading<em> Old ironsides</em> poem will notice the emphasis on the stressed syllables. This pattern exists most regularly in the trimeter lines of the poem, lines which most often finish the thoughts begun in the tetrameter lines. This poetic device emphasizes every other line, giving the poem a forceful as well as a musical feel.

In addition,  this poem make us part of American history since it is about the battleship U.S.S. <em>Constitution</em>, which became a symbol of American pride when it was triumphant over the ships of the British fleet during the War of 1812.

The dreams in the play symbolizes reality and how they were switched around with lovers who they didn't really love. I don't have the textual evidence but i know this because i had the same question.
