The lava that has more silica content is more explosive in nature, and if a volcano magma chamber explodes and causes the collapse of the volcanoes itself is known as a caldera. The shied volcanoes carry viscous lava when it flows form the vent and subduction is the process when the oceanic plate sinks due to the process of the convergence.
